Staff 1Senior Pastor: Brian Chandler
Brian felt the call of God into full-time Christian ministry when he was 18 years old while attending a summer camp at Camp Hiawatha in Piatt Lake, Michigan. Following that summer Brian attended William Tyndale College near Detroit, Michigan. While he was finishing his senior year, his home church, Grosse Ile Baptist called him to be their first youth pastor.

Following his ministry there Brian traveled to Southern California to attend Talbot Theological Seminary. Upon graduating with a Masters Degree in 1987, Brian became the Pastor to Students at Bethany Church in Redlands, California and served there from 1987-1991.

Feeling the call to do more in the area of evangelism with youth, Brian became the Director of Be The Light Ministries and worked with Evangelist/Pastor Brad Jurkovich. Brian travelled with Brad across America putting on assemblies for high school students, speaking at youth camps, and running city-wide outreach events.

In 1995, while living in Redlands, California Brian met and married his wife Michele. They have two girls named Courtney and Alexis.

Brian felt the call to leave Be The Light Ministries 1999 and move back into church ministry. He received a call to serve as Associate Pastor to Students at Trinity Baptist Church in Vacaville, California where he served for 8 years.

Then in the fall of 2006, Brian received a second call from the Lord to become a church planter. Brian along with a small group of other committed Christians planted The Discovery Church in April 2007. The story of Discovery Church is a special one that Brian prays will reach hundreds of people for Christ. EMAIL Brian <<

Staff 1Director of Children’s Ministries: Angie Walters
Angela felt the call into children’s ministries about 9 years ago while attending Trinity Baptist Church in Vacaville, California. While there she served as an elementary Sunday school teacher, served on the children’s counsel for two years, was leader in VBS and other outreach programs, and directed children’s choir.

In 2006, Angela and her family felt the Lord calling them to help plant The Discovery Church. She started her ministry here as a children’s choir director and Sunday school teacher. About a year later, the Lord opened a door for her to become Discovery’s Children Director which she has been since December of 2007. She’s currently on staff where she oversees all children’s ministries, teaches Sunday school, is the Sparks director in Awana, leads children’s choir and plans and organizes all children’s activities.

Angela has received training along the way in children’s ministries and is currently enrolled in the CLD program sponsored through Golden Gate Seminary. Her plan is to receive a degree in Christian Ministries. Angela is married to a wonderful man named Mike and they have two beautiful girls named Shilah (16) and Sara (9). She looks forward to how God will use her in children’s ministries in the future and is blessed to be a part of such an amazing church family at Discovery. >> EMAIL Angie <<

Staff 1Church Secretary: Georgiana Maddocks
Georgiana received the Lord as her savior at the young age of seven. She has been active in the church ever since. As a teenager she helped out in VBS and Sunday school. As she became older her role in the church continued to change. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, worked with the youth, was involved in stewardship campaigns, was on the leadership team for Women’s Ministry and served as a deacon. She met her husband on a blind date in high school and was happily married for 47 years until he went home to be with Lord March of 2009. Together they spent 23 years serving the Lord at a little neighborhood church in Los Angeles where they raised their two children. Georgiana worked for Glendale Community College for six years when she felt the Lord calling her to change jobs. She became church secretary for the church her family was attending and continued there for 8 years. In 1994 she and her husband decided to move to Vacaville where both their children had settled so that they could be closer to their grandchildren. They started their own business with MAC Tools. Georgiana helped her husband with the office work and bookkeeping while taking care of her four grandchildren. In 2005 she started working for the Redwood Empire Baptist Association and in May of 2009 became a part of the staff of Discovery Church. Georgiana has attended First Baptist Church in Vacaville since 1995 where she has just started serving on the Worship Team for the 8:00 am service. She is planning on earning her Diploma of Christian Ministry with the CLD program offered by Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. She doesn’t know how the Lord is going to use her in the future but she wants to be ready for whatever He has for her.>> EMAIL Georgiana <<
